We know that if we start early and get the foundation right, we can set a child up for life. The investment we make at the earliest stages of a child’s development far outweigh any intervention we make later down the road (every £1 we spend on prevention can save £3-£6 on intervention later on).
But far more than the financial benefits of investing in prevention are the outcomes for the children who are supported at the most important stage in their lives. Our Junior Club and Homework Club give children the opportunity to experience new activities, expanding their awareness of what’s possible. Art, music, team games and academic support offered through our children’s programmes support them to develop essential skills such as positive communication, fine motor skills, creativity, respect, and teamwork while building confidence, encouraging curiosity and supporting them academically with literacy, numeracy and problem solving. Just as important is how they make children feel - safe, secure and valued.
Every year our children’s programmes support 425 children and yet funding is very limited. We need your help to keep these programmes running and growing, as follows:
• Pledge £1,500 to give 30 local children year-round support.
• Pledge £5,000 to give 100 children (nearly 30% of our entire Junior Club) a full year of support.
We are more than 80% funded by donors by you and need to raise £160,000 through pledges alone, so thank you so much for giving your support to The Rugby Portobello Trust and the children and young people of North Kensington.
